Project Description

This study is Phase Two of a three phase study in which findings from Phase 1 will be implemented during Phase two.

Findings about environmental factors, generated from Phase One, which were found to inhibit physical activity levels in people with dementia living in residential aged care, will be identified and modifications made to the environment to reverse their effects.

Practitioners who are staff in the participating facilities will lead the implementation of the environmental modifications and, thus, throughout the study the investigators will facilitate practitioners in achieving active engagement in knowledge translation strategies.

In addition, during Phase Three, knowledge translation activities will be further consolidated within the topic area of the environment, physical activity levels and healthcare outcomes for people with dementia by undertaking a national study evaluating the successful interventions piloted during Phase Two.
