Project Description

The current National Framework for Action on Dementia expires in 2010 and does not emphasize public health approaches to dementia beyond funding research into promotion, prevention and early intervention (PPEI).

The expiration of the current Framework creates the opportunity for development of a comprehensive public health strategy for future inclusion.

A literature review of existing national and international PPEI and dementia strategies will be conducted to develop candidate strategies for inclusion in any future national public health approach to dementia. Particular attention will be paid to chronic disease and mental health PPEI as applicable to dementia. The review will consider both grey literature and peer-reviewed literature. The review aims to capitalise on the expertise of existing research and policy entities concerned with public health and with dementia.
