Project Description

Our project will collate and evaluate translated cognitive tools including informant interviews suitable for the assessment of older people from CALD backgrounds living in predominantly English-speaking countries.

This work will supplement the Dementia Outcomes Measurement suite review (www.dementia-assessment.com.au).

A set of criteria will be developed to benchmark existing translated tools against appropriate transcultural and psychometric standards.

We will focus on tools in the languages spoken most commonly by older CALD migrants in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. These instruments will be described in a report suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Identification of major gaps in the tools available will spark applications for funding to adapt, translate and validate suitable instruments.
