Project Description

Weight loss in Alzheimer's disease is well documented as a pre-diagnostic marker, a common feature of disease progression that contributes to morbidity and is an observable sign of overall nutritional deterioration that causes considerable anxiety and burden amongst carers.

This project aims to explore the experience of family carers of people living in the community with Alzheimer's dementia (AD) with respect to nutrition and feeding challenges, with a particular focus on identifying the strategies and services used by carers to ensure the person with AD receives adequate nutrition.
