Project Description

Dementia can occur at any age. Younger onset dementia (onset 65 years) is unexpected, distressing and can have devastatig consequences for the person, their partner and family. However there is little known about this group, which is increasing in size due to the Baby Boomer generation. There are many preventable causes of younger onset dementia and it is crucial to better understand the risk factors for developing this illness at a relatively young age.

This pilot project will use a community, case-control design to examine the environmental and lifestyle risk factors for the development of younger onset dementia.
