Project Description | Research has indicated that personalised music, recreational activities and videotapes are effective in improving symptoms of mood and behavioural disturbance. However, the cognitive deficits of people with dementia mean they typically have difficulty accessing personalised material (e.g., on tablets or DVD players) independently. We have designed and field tested an innovative device specifically for people with dementia, which enables them to easily access music, photographs, audio-visual personal messages and movies of choice. The device can be customised for varying stages of dementia from mild to severe, as the illness progresses. |
