Project Description

This study will use a case study design to generate pilot data to explore the feasibility of using a new animal robot called CuDDler in residential aged care as a means to encourage a positive emotional response from the person with dementia.

Four participants will be sought from one residential aged care facility owned and operated by RSL Care. Each participant will receive three individual non-facilitated CuDDler sessions per week, for 30-minutes between the hours of 1300 and 1700 over a period of five weeks.

Outcome data will be collected before CuDDler is introduced, during each session, and at the end of the five-weeks study period. Collected data will include: participant demographics; video capture of sessions; agitation state; and interviews.
