Addressing the “know-do” time lag requires knowledge translation (KT) tools fit for purpose, context and audience. There is no ‘plain English’ KT planning tool for the wide variety of stakeholders in dementia/aged care in Australia.

Project Aim

To revise the “Innovation to Implementation” (I2I)* knowledge translation planning tool to:

  • adapt it for use in Australia
  • provide examples in dementia and aged care
  • augment topical materials to support capacity building training workshops
  • assist Australian teams to use the tool to plan local innovation implementation

*Development of the original I2I (2012) was supported by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. We are grateful for permission to revise the I2I, and especially thank Dan Bilsker for supporting this Australian adaptation

Progress

RESOURCE PAGE for the I2I-A and "New Idea No Idea" Workshop

The original I2I was used in two workshops during 2013. Participant feedback was used to revise the 7-step tool into an Australian adaptation, and add three new topical sections have been added not in the original I2I:

  • “Is this Innovation KT ready”
  • “Readiness for change”
  • “Disseminating new knowledge”

The I2I-A has been used as core material for the "New Idea No Idea" Workshop - part of the 2014 Knowledge Transfer Workshop Program of the Dementia Training Study Centres.
