Project Description

This project aimed to identify a model or models of nursing practice that might assist GPs to better identify and manage dementia. The hypothesis was that compared to baseline rates of dementia identification and management identified in a three-state NHMRC grant, the practice nurse intervention would improve:

1. rates of identification;

2. adherence to best practice guidelines in terms of identifying reversible causes and differential diagnoses;

3. adherence to best practice guidelines in terms of referral to Alzheimer's Australia and other sources of support.
