DCRC-ABC, Visiting Fellow

Catherine joined the DCRC-ABC as a PhD student at UNSW Medicine in 2011 under the supervision of Dr Melissa Slavin and Professor Perminder Sachdev. Her PhD topic is “Cognitive Outcome After Stroke”.

Catherine’s PhD program focused on better characterization of neuropsychological patterns of stroke and improving outcome after stroke through early detection of vascular cognitive impairment, prognostication of cognitive and functional outcome, and establishing the efficacy of revascularization intervention.

Catherine's published work has motivated the initiation of a routine ward cognitive screening in a hospital in Singapore to detect cognitive impairment in patients at the subacute stroke phase.
