Profile

Dr. Jess Baker is a lecturer at the Psychiatry Research and Teaching Unit at UNSW. Jess’ research interests lie in helping to foster the good social and mental well-being of children and adults in the community, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Jess is currently leading the Kids 4 Dementia project, with the vision that educating children about dementia is the foundation to promoting an inclusive dementia-friendly society. Jess completed her PhD at Macquarie University looking at the friendships of children with anxiety disorders, and has managed several projects encouraging older adults to get the most out of life through the pursuit of meaningful activity (LEAP and We Think You Can Dance!).

Jess has experience in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, conducting clinical interviews and social cognitive and neuropsychological assessments, the Developmental-Individual differences-Relationship-based approach, teaching, the Montessori method, and applied behavioural analysis
