Dr Erin Conway is a Speech Pathologist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow supported by the Dementia Collaborative Research Centre for Carers and Consumers. She is based at the University of Queensland's Centre for Clinical Research.

Currently her main research focus is on the evaluation of the benefits of a communication skills training program for community-based carers of people with dementia, exploring benefits to quality of care, quality of life and the functional communication performance of people with dementia.

ErinĀ is also interested in exploring the feasibility of a system to monitor and provide feedback to staff following training, in order to sustain a change in practice.

Her other areas of interest include the direct treatment of communication impairments in dementia, language processing following stroke, and the use of electroencephalography (EEG) in the investigation of neurolinguistic processing.

NOTE: Prior to mid 2011, Dr Conway published under her maiden name Erin Smith.
