Professor Leon Flicker is an Australian leading expert in geriatric medicine and has an established international reputation. He is the Director of the Western Australian Centre for Health and Ageing (WACHA) and is committed to disseminating and implementing his research findings to improve the health of older Australians. He is a member of numerous national committees and organizations and has published extensively in the field of geriatric medicine.

Leon has played a major role in implementing his own research outcomes into clinical guidelines regarding functional decline, delirium, redesign of the hospital environment and has provided his expert opinion to government committees.

Earlier in his career Leon worked in Alice Springs, NT this sparked his interest in Indigenous health issues. He has been working closely with remote Indigenous Australian communities in the Kimberley and Pilbara region for last decade, and until 2013 led the DCRC-ABC Rural and Remote Dementia node.
