DCRC-ABC, Visiting Fellow

Other roles / affiliations

Consultant, World Health Organization Geneva

Originally trained as a psychologist in Germany, Katrin joined the DCRC-ABC in late 2007 as a part-time Research Assistant working on the pilot of the INSPIRED study and a range of other DCRC projects. She was for instance responsible for coordinating the 2010 update of the Dementia Research Map and the development of the GPCOG website.

In 2010 she enrolled in a PhD program at UNSW, for which she was awarded a DCRC PhD scholarship. In her thesis Katrin investigated the longterm evolution and predictors of carer distress using Sydney Memory and Ageing Study data. This work made her an expert in structural equation modelling and latent growth curve analysis.

Upon submission of her thesis, Katrin was appointed full-time Research Associate managing projects such as the update of the DOMS website or our international GPCOG collaborations. She also recently established a Research Methodology Round Table for the DCRC and affiliated centres and acted as a stats advisor for members of our team.

In November 2015, Katrin accepted a consultant role with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, to work in a small team of three on the development of the Global Dementia Observatory, an international platform to monitor dementia prevalence and service provision in WHO member countries (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2015/action-on-dementia/en/).
