Project Description

This project is part of the BPSD Guide - Development, Dissemination and Evaluation program. The Guide is part of the suite of resources, including apps and companion guides, which can be accessed on the Program Resource Page.

Background to this project

To support the dissemination of the document: Behaviour Management – A Guide to Good Practice: Managing Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) in-service training and evaluation packages have been developed. The aim of this project is to implement the evidence-based principles of the BPSD Guide.

Each package is consistent with a specific BPSD module of the Guide and includes:

  • PowerPoint presentation with facilitators’ notes to assist in delivery
  • Facilitators’ lesson plan
  • Two versions of participants’ pre and post knowledge questionnaires for nursing/allied health professionals and direct care staff
  • Participants’ evaluation questionnaire
  • Certificate of completion for participants

The in-service packages are available for appropriately skilled clinicians to deliver training in the workplace. Evaluation data from completed knowledge questionnaires and participants’ evaluation are required for any sessions delivered. Ethics approval for this project provided by UNSW HREA Panel Ref: 9_14_043

Please contact Kim Burns for packages including PowerPoint presentations and reply-paid envelopes to return the data.

As part of collecting this data we can provide a brief report of feedback and any change in participants’ knowledge that may be useful for reporting purposes (example report below).
